Banbatika Park is a well-known park located in Tilottama, Shankarnagar, in the Rupandehi district of Lumbini Province.
We can simply call it a park where people come to enjoy their holiday and to spend time with their loved ones.
If you have your vehicle, then you can easily get there, but if you don’t have one, then you can get on the microbus which runs on route no.1 from Golpark to Shankarnagar.
Most people come here to enjoy peace because they work 6 days a week very busily, and they get tired. So, on the weekend, they come here to enjoy and forget all their tiredness.
It is really a peaceful and green place, which is a little far from the main highway, which makes it a more attractive point. Banbatika is known as the local peaceful spot for tourists who are nature lovers.
1. Location of Banbatika Park
At first, you should reach the Shankhanagar gate that touches the Siddhartha highway. Then you should move towards the east. You should move 1 km straight. You may see several turnings, but you should go straight without diverting.

The main attraction of Banbatika is peaceful environment. Well, all people have their point of view, but in my point of view, people mostly come here to enjoy the peaceful environment and to be close to nature.
You must visit this place to have the best hangout experience!
Simply, Banbatika is a mini forest type area that is divided into different sections like playground area, picnic spot, peace zone, garden area, zoo site, religious & cultural site, green land, etc.
Open grassland is also there, which looks stunning in the spring season. Mainly, people choose the grassland for picnics & dates. At the centre of the park, there is a big water fountain and mini lotus ponds, which make it more attractive.
Many varieties of animals, birds, reptiles, and flowers are also there. You can get knowledge about them. You can find so many benches inside the park. The restroom facilities are conveniently located here.
Well, there are also many more big shaded areas to protect visitors from the sun and rain. Pathways are also clean, and beside the pathways, there are small bushes that make the pathway beautiful. There is a big view tower from which we can see the whole Shankarnagar.
1. Statues & Views
You can see several statues, artificial mountains, and many more attractions at the starting point of the park.

You can also find a lake there and trees covering the left and right sides of the pathway.
There is a green field around where you can relax, lying there.

There are several picnic spots around the park where you can go picnic with a team.

There are several animals like Guinea Pig, Rabbits, Anaconda, Bear, monkey, fox, etc. The zoo is small but beautiful, and amazing experience being there.
6. Photoshoot Area
There is a photoshoot zone where you can feel the vibes of Nepali cultural dresses. You can wear Magar dress, Gurung dress, Tharu dress, Newar dress, Chhetri dress, etc.
7. View Tower
There is a big view tower from where you can see the whole Shankarnagar city.
4. Benefits to the Community
Banbatika plays a compelling role in the development of the nearby community. As I mentioned above, Banbatika is a greenery place and access to greenery, which reduces stress, anxiety, and depression.
It also provides a place for gathering, events, picnics, celebrations, and parties for the people of the community.
It also provides a habitat for wild animals and birds, conserving and protecting biodiversity.
5. Park Layout
The separate areas for the kindergarten, playground, garden, picnic area, grassland, and zoo are incredibly well-planned. All the places are adjusted nicely.
6. Challenges & Community Involvement
Banbatika is in a spacious area and occupies a large amount of space, which presents challenges for the management team regarding cleaning and maintenance.
There will be a high risk of vandalism and issues with the parking system, leading to misunderstandings and potential conflicts. It will be difficult to secure enough financial support for improvements and renovations.
However, if all the residents living near the park participate in clean-up events and park maintenance, it will be easier for the management team. The management team should also organise events or programs to raise funds.
In my opinion, collaborating with local businesses and organisations for support and other resources is also required.
7. Future Vision
As we all know, Banbatika is a green park, and we aim to maintain its current state and ensure it remains eco-friendly for future generations.
In the future, we will promote physical and mental well-being through fitness trails, meditation gardens, and spaces for relaxation and recreation.
The future vision for the park aims to improve sustainability, accessibility, and biodiversity while integrating technology, fostering community engagement, and promoting health and education.
